Mid-career Plenary Award

ANZBMS Mid-Career Plenary Award

This award recognises the outstanding achievements of an ANZBMS mid-career researcher.

The awardee will receive a plaque and a plenary speaking invitation at the next Annual Scientific meeting. In addition, the award includes complimentary registration for the meeting, a ticket to the conference dinner, and travel support covering an economy return airfare within Australia* and up to four nights’ accommodation at one of the conference pre-booked hotels.

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • Be a current ANZBMS member for two years or more.
  • Be at least ten years post highest degree (PhD, MD or FRACP).
  • Have an appointment at Level A (Associate Lecturer/Research Associate/Postdoctoral Research Fellow, B (Lecturer/Research Fellow) or C (Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow) or equivalent.
  • Receive a written letter of support by a supporting financial ANZBMS member.
  • Be able to attend and present their research at the ANZBMS Annual Scientific Meeting.

Applications should include:

  • A summary of the applicant’s major research contributions (max 1 page).
  • ·A brief CV (max 5 pages), including the following information:
    • Publications
    • Grants (current and previous)
    • International and National Reputation
    • Contributions to the discipline
  • · Letter of support from nominating ANZBMS member.

Selection

Applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee comprising at least 3 non-conflicted ANZBMS Council members and the Chairs of the ASM POC.

The selection criteria include scientific output (publication quality) (35% weighting), funding success (30% weighting), reputation (20%), contributions to the discipline (15%).

* If the awardee is based overseas, the award will provide travel support equivalent to the value stated above. Any additional costs associated with international travel will be the responsibility of the awardee.
