NHMRC Australia Fellowship and Australia-China Fellowship Exchange Program

The National Health and Mediciine Research Center (NHMRC) has introduced two schemes that may be beneficial to the members of the Society:

NHMRC Australia Fellowship

The first is the Australian Fellowship that was announced in the 2006 Federal Budget and provides new funds to attract and retain leading researchers.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide support for the most outstanding health and/or medical researchers both nationally and/or internationally to support outstanding research teams in Australia, to undertake research that is of major importance in its field and of significant benefit to Australian health and medical research. Thus, we should be aware of the Australian Fellowship for any individuals that you wish to attract to Australia.

Expression of Interest - 4 March 2008
Full Application - 29 April 2008

NHMRC Australia-China Fellowship Exchange Program

The second scheme recently announced is a Fellowship Exchange Program involving Australia and China that will commence in January 2008. This may be an appropriate vehicle for bilateral exchange of post-doctoral fellows, and you should highlight your intention to be involved in this scheme with your Research Office Administrator.
