Invitation to Attend
Dear Colleagues,
The Annual Scientific Meeting is the single most important function
of the society. It is the only venue we have for meeting as a group,
challenging each other's ideas in an open forum, and discussing
the vision we have for the future of our society. Please make your
attendance a priority, submit your best work to this meeting, not
to others, come to the microphone at the sessions and don't spare
the presenters, and don't deprive young investigators the
opportunity to learn by example as they tremble at the thought of
asking a question.
Council members want to know what the society can do for you
in terms of funding and educational support but we also ask for
your support. Help the society grow by encouraging members of
your department to attend the meeting. There are travel grants
available and where possible we will do out best to assist you.
Make an effort to increase the membership of the society so the
diversity of intellectual activity of the society will grow and
continue the tradition of a strong presence of Australians in the
international arena of bone and mineral research. Please attend
the Annual General Meeting so that council can tell you about its
activities and hear your views. If you do not tell us what you
would like from your society we will decide for you. Keep the
scientific flame a brightly lit beacon. I would like to thank the
chairpersons of the POC/LOC Edith Gardiner and Chris White for
their hard work in organising this program and with the support
of the members, I am sure that this meeting has all the
ingredients needed for success.

Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the Annual Scientific Meeting of the ANZBMS 2004 to
be held at Cypress Lakes Resort in the Hunter Valley, NSW.
Set amongst the vineyards of the Hunter Valley, Cypress Lakes Resort
provides the perfect venue for this year's Scientific Meeting -
for the exchange of ideas and the birth of new ones, for the presentation
and discussion of data, or for meeting and relaxing with friends.
In addition, the Endocrine Society of Australia Clinical Weekend
will follow our ASM at this same venue, enabling participants in
both events to enjoy a free Friday afternoon in the Hunter Valley.
To encourage attendance at both meetings, the Friday morning ANZBMS
scientific program is focused on clinical issues and a special Clinician's
Package including the ANZBMS Thursday evening Conference Dinner
and registration for the Friday morning sessions is available.
A dose of academic bone and mineral medicine is recommended once
a year. Cypress Lakes Resort is recommended at least once a lifetime.
We look forward to your company and value your participation.
